We are living in a time of almost unbelievable ignorance about Cardiovascular diseases in Africa, Healthy Heart Foundation is a not for profit foundation, dedicated to raising awareness of heart disease prevention by spreading the word to protect your heart and save your life.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally accounting for 17.9 million lives every year. The good news is if individuals know their risk and take the necessary steps, most cardiovascular diseases are preventable.
Although heart disease is typically diagnosed in adulthood, its roots are often found in childhood. Compelling research has shown that plaque buildup in the arterial walls begins very early in life and progresses through increasing degrees of atherosclerosis. Intervention strategies and healthy lifestyle changes to reduce heart disease risk should begin early when reversal of the process is easier, not later in life when the disease is more fully developed.
HHF provides education to the community, corporations, schools, social clubs and individuals to promote heart disease awareness, detection, and prevention. To more effectively reduce the risk of a heart attack, early identification of risk factors is critical. Identifying individuals who are at risk of experiencing a coronary event, early intervention can save their lives.

We are leading the fight to save African hearts starting in Uganda.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide accounting for 17.9 million lives each year. The burden of CVD in the world is enormous and growing, and Africa has not been spared this global tide. In most sub Saharan Africa CVD is now the second most common cause of death after infectious diseases and is a major cause of chronic illness and disability.
A significant proportion of the morbidity and mortality by non-communicable diseases including CVDs could be prevented through individual and population-based strategies, and by making cost-effective interventions accessible and affordable, both for people with established disease and for those at high risk of developing disease.
Healthy Heart Foundation (HHF)’s work is purpose –driven, with a focus on stopping the world’s number one killer by tirelessly working to prevent and mange heart disease.
We make a difference in the fight against heart disease by:
- Working to improve heart disease prevention, detection, care and support for all people in our communities.
- Advocating to government and industry for increased funding and resources for heart health
- Building community awareness about living a heart-healthy lifestyle. We do this through public health awareness campaigns, accessible information and resources
- Supporting health professionals in their work to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage heart disease.
